This project took place over two independent back streets, and involved the removal of the existing stone setts using excavators and breakers, excavating a further 300mm in depth, which resulted in us coming across several services.
The reconstruction required a 150mm type 1 sub base, both rolled and compacted, as well as a 150mm St3 concrete bed. We then reinstated the stone setts by knocking them into an ST3 concrete, with the concrete finishing roughly 50mm below the top of the stone setts.
A fast setting screed was then used to complete the works, and the new tarmac was installed to the footways and roads. The client was extremely happy with the results and will be using the same materials and process to complete a further £1.2million of stone sett roads in the area.
