After years of water ingress through the underpasses roof, making the sub-way slippery and un-safe to the public, Hinko were tasked with devising an engineering solution to waterproof the structure. The sub-way was approximately 40 years old and span around 45m long.
Working with a specialist sub-contractor, Hinko chased back and repaired any damaged areas in the sub-way and drilled into the roof to inject a polyurethane resin grout joint between PCC sub-way rings at the crown of the arch to inhibit ground water ingress.
Several other repairs and refurbishment works were carried out throughout the sub-way such as tiling, painting, concrete repairs and block paving.
